Reverend Monsignor Lawrence J. Baird, P.A.

Administrator of St. John Vianney Chapel.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Monsignor Baird attended elementary and high schools before he immigrated to the California with his parents, Mary and Wilfred, and his three siblings in 1961. He studied for the priesthood at St. John’s College and St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1965. Ordained to the priesthood in 1969, he earned a Master of Arts degree in Theology at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley University in 1981.

He served as an Associate Pastor at St. John Vianney parish, Hacienda Heights, and St. Anthony Claret parish, Anaheim. He was Pastor of St. Callistus, Garden Grove, and St. Polycarp parish in Stanton. Monsignor Baird has served in many administrative capacities in the Diocese of Orange including Ecumenical Officer, Director of Youth Ministries, Director of Marywood Center, Director of Office of Development, Director of Communications, Editor of Diocese of Orange Bulletin, Chaplain of the Catholic Alumni Club and Catholic Spirit. He is currently a member of the Diocesan Finance Council and the Board of Directors of the Orange Catholic Foundation.

He has been involved in the Orange County community in many volunteer roles since 1977 including National Conference of Christians and Jews, Concern of Orange, Board of Directors of United Way, Board of Directors of St. Michael’s Abbey Foundation, Board of Directors of Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums, and Chaplain of Legatus.

He was named a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in 1989, Prelate of Honor of His Holiness (Monsignor) in 1990, Recipient of the Defender of the Faith Award of St. Michael’s Preparatory School in 2003, Religious Leadership Award from Boy Scouts in 2007, Protonotary Apostolic in 2008, and Recipient of Bronze Palm of Jerusalem in 2010.
